SUSTAINABILITY FAIR - 12:00 Noon - 3:30 PM at St. Gabriel Church Hall, 5200 Greenridge Drive, Whitehall Borough, 15236. Sponsored by the Whitehall Committee for Environmental Action. The event is free and open to the public. We will be collecting the following items on site: Ink and toner cartridges; Magic markers, crayons and pens; Reasonably clean, worn out athletic shoes; Clean durable medical equipment – canes, walkers, wheelchairs, bed rails, crutches; Clean plastic film and packaging, and single use plastic bags. Speak with solar energy providers, sustainable landscapers, composters, land conservation organizations, groups and businesses. Purchase earth friendly, low impact and fair trade items from local vendors. Find volunteer opportunities with local organizations caring for the land, water, plants and animals. Have fun making children’s crafts from recycled materials

CABBAGE ROLL DINNER FUNDRAISER - Take out only. Sat, March 1, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at Garys Chuckwagon Restaurant, located at 109 S. Second Street in West Newton. Dinner includes cabbage rolls, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and butter, dessert, and beverage. Cost is $15. Tickets may be purchased at Garys or by telephone 724-787-1377. POLKA MASS & DINNER - Saints Joachim and Anne Catholic Parish- Elizabeth/Glassport/Liberty Boro will host a Polka Mass and Dinner on Saturday, March 1 at the St. Eugene Campus- 3210 Liberty Way, in Liberty Boro. 6pm Mass then a Catered Dinner provided by the R-Place Restaurant and Music by Mikey D. FREE MONTHLY DINNER - On Wednesday, March 5th, come in from the cold and join us for our free monthly dinner. Its theme is Welcoming Spring. The main entree is vegetable and meat lasagna. Bring your appetite and a covered dish to share (not required). This dinner is hosted by the California United Methodist Church, 227 Third Street, California, PA. It's located across the street from the Dairy Queen. Bring a friend or two and join us for food and fellowship. Everyone is welcome. WHITEHALL GREEN THUMBERS GARDEN CLUB - The first meeting of the Whitehall Green Thumbers Garden Club in 2025 will be held on Thursday, March 6 at the Whitehall Borough Community Room at 7:00PM. Speaker will be Doug Oster who will share his best gardening tips.

TITAN EVOLUTION ALUMNI MADNESS - The West Mifflin Area School District is inviting the West Mifflin Area community and all WMAHS graduates to its event on Saturday, March 8.
There will be a series of events throughout the day, starting with the First Annual Community 5K run and Kids Mile, starting at 11:30 a.m. In the afternoon, the district will be unveiling its recently renovated Titan Baseball/Softball Complex, with an alumni musical performance and the ribbon cutting at 3:30 p.m., followed by Titan varsity games on both fields. The concession stand near the fields will be open at approximately 3 p.m. The day will conclude with the West Mifflin Area community invited to gather at Mulligan’s in West Mifflin at 8:00 p.m. Mascots, including ‘T the Titan’, the (Washington) Wild Thing and the Penn State Greater Allegheny Nittany Lion, are expected to attend the festivities as well.

SPAGHETTI DINNER FUNDRAISER - Take out only. Sat, March 8 from 4:00PM – 6:00PM at Gary's Chuck Wagon Restaurant, located at 109 S. Second Street in West Newton. Proceeds will benefit the West Newton Womans Club Community projects.

CLOTHES 4 U MINISTRY - The Clothes 4 U ministry of the First United Methodist Church, 200 State Street, Belle Vernon will be open to the public on Tuesdays March 8 and 22 from 9am to 12 noon. We do not charge for our clothing. We are in need of all gently used clean clothing for all. Thank you for helping us help the people of the Mon Valley.

SOUTH HILLS COIN CLUB – Monthly Meeting, Tuesday evening March 11, 2025 at 7:30 PM at the Bethel Park municipal building located at 5100 West Library Avenue located in Bethel Park, Pa. All members and the general public are invited. This month's program will the “Gold confiscation of 1933” part 2. A 50/50 will be offered and children's prizes to be awarded. CALIFORNIA UNITED WOMEN IN FAITH – Monthly meeting. Tuesday, March 11, in the California United Methodist Church’s Social Room, located on the corner of 3rd and Liberty Streets in California, PA. The brief business meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., Dr. Richard Martin, the California Borough Administrator, will present on the needs of the California community and have a discussion on how our unit may be able to assist in meeting those needs. SPRING BOOK SALE - The Friends of the Community Library of Castle Shannon will hold its' 2025 Spring Book Sale on Thursday, March 13 from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm, Friday March 14th from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday, March 15th from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm. Saturday is $5 bag day where you can get a bag of books for only $5. The sale will be in the Community Room in the lower level at 3677 Myrtle Avenue in Castle Shannon, Pa.

FLEA MARKET - The Church of the Atonement, 618 Washington Ave., Carnegie scheduled a flea market for Fri., & Sat., March 14 & 15 from 9:00AM - 2:00PM (and a snow date of Sun., March 16 from 1:00-3:00). NOTE that we close on Sat. the 15th from NOON to 1:00 and reopen at 1:00 for the bag sale. Here's a short list of what's for sale: kitchen items, bedding, linens, clothing, headboard, sewing machine, mixer with many attachments, kerosene heater decorations, luggage, etc. Donations accepted March 9 - 11 by calling Joyce at 412-276-0366.

SUPER GIFT BASKET RAFFLE -West Newton Library will be holding their 8th Annual Super Gift Basket Raffle on March 16 at the Turkeytown VFD, 90 Supervisors Drive in West Newton. Doors open at 11:00AM and tickets for drawing will be started at 2:30PM. Tickets cost $20 and can be bought at West Newton Library or Gary's Chuckwagon Restaurant. You can also buy tickets on line @Ticket leap – (fees apply). Tickets include 25 General Raffle Tickets and a light lunch. CHILDREN'S GUN SAFETY WORKSHOP - An ‘Eddie the Eagle’ Children's Gun Safety Workshop is being held on Sunday, March 16 from 1:00PM – 2:00PM at the Carrick Sportsmen’s Club. The workshop is sponsored by the NRA and Carrick Sportsmen’s Club. Join us for an afternoon using the Eddie Eagle Gun Safe program to teach children four simple, easy to remember steps to do if they ever come across a gun. PRESENTATION ON PARANORMAL RESEARCH - On Saturday March 22nd at 11:00 am the Monessen Public Library will host Laurissa Rex who will present her workshop, "The Tools That Bridge Two Worlds - Paranormal Research 101". This is a hands-on workshop that includes a brief presentation on the research equipment used. An interactive session will follow that will captivate both teens and adults. GOODWILL DONATION DRIVE - Belle Vernon Public Library will host a donation drive at Goodwill of SWPa’s Tri County Plaza location. Donations brought to that Goodwill location on Tuesday, April 1 between 3:00PM – 6:00PM will help the library raise money, as well benefit Goodwill in their mission to help people overcome barriers to employment. The Belle Vernon Goodwill donation center is located at 460 Tri County Lane on the side of the resale shop and will staffed by library volunteers during the event. Acceptable donations include clothing, handbags, glass and housewares, cooking accessories, musical instruments, sports equipment and toys. Among the items that cannot be included in the donation day is furniture, baby cribs and gates, computers and televisions. A full list of acceptable and unacceptable items is available at the library.
