The Ladies Guild of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church will hold its annual flea market on Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church. The church is located at the corner of Sixth Street and Marne Street in Monongahela. There will also be a bake sale and food including kielbasa or hot dogs with sauerkraut, haluski made with dumplings and homemade pizza. The Friends of the Monessen Public Library will have their annual Library Luncheon on Tuesday October 10, from 11:00AM – 2:00PM. The luncheon will be held at Saint Spyridon Social Hall and will feature guest speaker Kathy Manderino. Kathy was a member of the PA House of Representatives from 1993-2010. The theme is "Monessen Memories", as Monessen is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. For ticket information please call the Monessen Public Library at 724-684-4750.

The Mon Valley YMCA will be holding a ‘Harvest Dance’ on Friday, October 20 from 6:00PM – 10:00PM.

Valley Clean Air Now (VCAN) will be holding its community meeting on October 19, at 6:00 PM at the CEDCC, 282 Saint Clair Avenue, Clairton, to update the public on air monitoring activities and health surveys being conducted in the area. All those in attendance from the effected Mon Valley communities will be eligible to receive free air purifiers for their homes. All concerned residents of the Mon Valley are welcome.
