Business & Merchant

Local businesses contributed $50,000 to The Challenge Program, Inc. to support the program’s efforts to motivate and reward students during the 2015-2016 program year in Washington County secondary schools.

Challenge Program Participants

Through The Challenge Program, Inc., sophomores, juniors and seniors are introduced to careers in their own communities and challenged to compete in five award categories that are directly linked with academic and workforce success: Attendance; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math); Academic Improvement; Academic Excellence and Community Service.

Participating Washington County businesses and their partnered schools are: Range Resources (Avella, Bentworth, Burgettstown and Chartiers-Houston High Schools and Western Area CTC); Auma Actuators (Canon-McMillan High School); Progeny Systems (Charleroi and Belle Vernon High Schools); MarkWest (Chartiers-Houston High School); Noble Energy (Ringgold High School); Dynmet Incorporated (Washington High School); Wesbanco (Trinity High School); and Alex E. Paris Contracting (Avella High School).
