A generous donation from the Elliott Group in Jeanette will provide 352 nights of shelter at Welcome Home Shelter in Greensburg.  Welcome Home Shelter is operated by Connect, Inc., an affiliate of Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services Inc.

Begun in 1985, Connect, Inc. provides a full continuum of care to homeless, near-homeless, and low income individuals, children and families in Washington, Greene and Westmoreland Counties.

Lyndsay Burrik, executive for Community Wellness and Recovery at Connect, Inc., said Elliott Group officials recently reached out to Connect, Inc., and toured their facilities. Soon after, Burrik and other Connect, Inc. employees were invited to the Jeanette corporate offices, where the Elliott Group made a donation for Welcome Home Shelter.

At Elliott, a committee makes decisions on community-based donations, said Christy Bash, corporate community manager for Elliott Group. “We have a really long history of giving back to the community,” said Bash. “We work here and live here so it’s important to us.”

This is the first time the Elliot Group has made a donation to Welcome Home Center.

Opened in October 2002, Welcome Home Shelter is a 30-to-60 day emergency shelter located in Greensburg, providing emergency housing for up to four families and 10 single women.
