On Tuesday, March 10, Jefferson Hills residents Perity and Rob Timm opened the doors to the new ‘West E Diner’ at historic Lincoln Square in West Elizabeth.

On this chilly morning, Hostess, Joy Nolder, greeted customers, while waitresses, Chrissey Yager and Cindy Ament, served warm fresh cooked meals.

The small diner is full of charm, with a showcase displaying antique kitchen equipment, and banners of neighboring schools hanging on the wall. “We chose the old Lincoln Elementary school as the location for the diner because we felt the area could really use a family-friendly place to eat and the building has a lot of character," said Perity.

The Lincoln School was built in 1912 and once house students of all grades. After the school closed in the mid-70s, it was used for sporadic businesses that came and went. For approximately ten years, the building sat vacant until Jeffries Integrated Solutions took over the building with plans to bring it back to life and bring business back to the small town that was lacking.

In response to COVID-19, the Timm's are exercising caution to keep their staff and customers safe. They are dedicated to maintaining high standards of cleanliness at the West E Diner by practicing all CDC guidelines, including continued cleaning and handwashing throughout the day.
