Panza Jr., president and CEO, pose for a picture during the media tour of the newly renovated Emergency Department at Monongahela Valley Hospital.

The renovation project included modernization of the treatment rooms to improve safety for patients and visitors as well as functionality for hospital staff. The new rooms have been set up in a standard fashion so when a provider or staff person enters, they will know the exact location of their medical equipment and supplies in every room, which can be vital in life-threatening situations. In addition, each room features new IV poll tracks, computer workstations and wall storage units for greater efficiency along with chairs, flat screen televisions and privacy curtains for patient and visitor comfort.

In a prepared statement, Archie and Toni Allridge said: “We are very fortunate to have Mon Valley Hospital in our community. The Allridge and Bartolotta families have also been a part of the community for many years. We live here and do business here with our Giant Eagles. We grew up here and so did our parents. Our strong community beliefs make us honored to be able to help the Mon Valley Hospital. Our idea was not to just buy a piece of equipment; we wanted to do something for the employees of the hospital to give them a better and safer work environment. The idea to remodel and upgrade the Emergency Department was presented to us and we are happy to be a part of this improvement.”

“The renovation we’ve done here is such an improvement,” said Sundeep Ekbote, director of Emergency Medicine, “I can’t overstate how better it is to have all the things we need, laid out where we need them to be. This department now has all the capability of any other emergency department in the country.”
