The new hours of operation at Smithton Public Library are: Monday and Wednesday, 4-7 p.m. and Thursday, 3-6 p.m.

Reading Club
The Reading Club program will kick off on Thursday, July 7th, at 1 p.m. at the library with Professor Steve Haberman performing his new Get Ready, Get Set, READ! Magic Show. The show explores the amazing world of reading and challenges the kids to discover the wonder of books with laughter and a little magic. The show is most appropriate for preschool - 6th, but kids of all ages and adults will love the show. The goal of the program is to get kids excited about reading, so save the date: Thursday, July 7, starting at 1 p.m. at Smithton Public Library. After the magic show, the Summer Reading program will continue each week on Thursdays from 1-2:30 p.m. at the library. The dates are: July 14, 21, 28, and August 4. It's important for parents to sign up children in advance so that we know how many supplies to purchase. The focus of this year's club is physical activity. For example, during the July 14th session there will be a hula hoop contest and jump rope activities. Each child present will receive a jump rope and a hula hoop, so we want to have enough.

Book Club
Our book club meets the fourth Thursday of each month in the library. Our next meeting will be on July 28 at 6 p.m. Call the library to find out the title. On Thursday, August 25, Smithton Library will host the Summer/Fall One Book, One Community book discussion of Heat & Light by Jennifer Haigh. The book deals with two farm owners and the issues of whether to drill or not. Hope you can join us for what promises to be a lively discussion.

Paperback Book Sale
Are you looking to replenish your paperback supply for summer reading? Smithton Public Library received several very generous donations of paperbacks. Due to the size of our library, we don't add paperback books to our collection, so we sell them. There are many best sellers by a variety of popular authors as well as many Harlequin romances. The books are 25 cents each or 5 for a dollar.

eBooks and Audio Books
If you would like to borrow eBooks and audio books from our library and do not know how to download them, come to the library on Thursdays in July during library hours. Staff members will be available to provide personal instruction on how to use OverDrive, the county's eBooks provider. An appointment is not necessary, but is recommended. Call the library at 724-872-0701.
