Toddler Time will be on Monday afternoons at 1 p.m. Wacky Wednesdays are for ages 8 – 12 and will be held at 5:30 p.m. The upstairs Children’s Room will be known as Alley the Alligator’s Adventure Land.

Stan Gordon – Saturday, October 1 from 1-2:30 p.m., “Astonishing Pennsylvania Encounters: Past and Present.” This illustrated presentation highlights some of the most famous and unusual UFO, Bigfoot, and strange encounter cases Stan has investigated since 1965.

The Mon Valley Genealogy Forum will meet on Monday, October 17, at 5:30 p.m. The group is open to anyone interested in genealogy. Light refreshments will be served. The group will discuss the latest reports of “genealogy in the news”, new research sites, and family histories. October is “Family History Month”, a great time to begin a genealogy project!

There is a new Monessen Library E-Book Club that features discussion, which will be mostly online. Check out: https://www.facebook.com/groups/24058 - 1213002674/permalink/24108 - 1259619336/

All knitters and/or crocheters are encouraged to join the new Club for Yarn Enthusiasts. Club organizers hope to be very actively involved within the community and will be discussing potential projects. Those who wish to learn how to knit or crochet are also encouraged to join! Stop at the Library for details.

The Library will present a special program on October 29 from 1 - 2:30 p.m. called “The Influence of American Rock 'n' Roll on the Beatles” by Aaron Krerowicz. Before the Beatles ever wrote their own songs or performed on stage, they were inspired to do so by American rock 'n' roll records. This 90-minute multimedia program illustrates the influence of American recording artists from the 1950s on the Beatles through side-by-side comparisons and musical analysis of Beatles covers and original recordings.

Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center will be closed on Columbus Day, Monday, October 10, 2016, for WLN staff training.

The annual October Book Sale will begin on October 15, 2016. Pick up great autumn reading material! Hardbacks will be fifty cents and paperbacks will be twenty-five cents each.
