Author Visit and Book Discussion with Meredith Mileti
Wednesday, July 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
At the invitation of the library evening book club members, join Pittsburgh writer Meredith Mileti as she dishes up stories about her debut novel, Aftertaste: A Novel in Five Courses. From the fast-paced world of high-end New York restaurants to the Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Squirrel Hill and the Strip, Aftertaste is a keenly observed novel about rebuilding and rediscovery, about food passionately prepared and unapologetically savored, and about the singular contentment that comes with living – and loving – with gusto.

Tour de Fleece
Saturday, July 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Each summer cyclists gather to conquer the Tour de France, a three-week adventure of dedication, challenges and achieving personal and team goals. Another group of spinners gather in person and online forums to do the same, but these wheels don’t power bicycles. For the over 10,000 participants of last year’s Tour de Fleece, the spinning wheels are for making yarn! Members of the Washington Spinners and Weavers will be bringing a little part of the Tour de Fleece, including the animals that host the yarn! See several types of spinning wheels in action and watch the process from fiber to yarn. No registration necessary, just drop in. Please contact the Washington Spinners and Weavers at wswguild@gmail.com for more information.
