The Monessen Public Library announces the following projects.
Family Literacy Day
Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center will celebrate National Authors & Family Literacy Day by hosting local authors, Brianne, Della & Lila Mitchell on Monday, November 6, 2017, at 6 p.m. For the children’s story time session, they will read their new book, “Della and Lila Meet the Monongahela Mermaid”. A book signing will follow with Monongahela Mermaid items for sale. All proceeds go to providing Christmas gifts for children involved in the Children and Youth Services agency. If anyone wishes to support the program, they can bring a personal gift for a child in need.
Act of Kindness Program
This month’s Act of Kindness Project will involve the collection of toys and gifts for the CYS program and the annual children’s mitten tree. Also, for those attending the Mitchell Storytime and book signing, please consider bringing with you any new or gently used coats, hats, gloves or mittens in sizes for children or adults for the ongoing coat collection. The winter clothing can be donated during regular business hours and deposited in the collection box near the circulation desk.
Monessen Library will be closed November 23 through 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
