Library News

Clairton Public Library is located at 616 Miller Ave. and can be reached at 412-233-7966. Listed below are December programs:

Trim- a-Tree Party

We welcome everyone of all ages to help us celebrate the holidays during our Trim-a-Tree party. Tree decorations, carols, snacks, and good fun all come together on December 6 from 1 – 3 p.m.

Wise Walk

Get in shape for Santa with our weekly Wise Walk. We walk, rain or shine (or snow!) on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. Walk at your own pace, but join us this Saturday. We start out at the library.

Cuddle Time

Children from birth to two years of age can enjoy learning the rhythm and cadence of storybook language. Every child needs to be accompanied by an (adult) lap to cuddle on. This activity takes place at the library every Tuesday from 11 - 11:30 a.m.

Stories for Tots

On Wednesday mornings, toddlers ages 2 and up are invited to a story time plus a fun and educational group activity. Bring your child at 10 a.m. for more important experiences with book learning. Don’t forget to bring your library card, which will allow you and your young ones to select books to take home to enjoy.

Kids after School

Older children are invited to the library every other Monday from 3:30 – 4 p.m. for adult-led reading activities along with the kids from Sisters’ Place. Inquire at the main desk for details at 412-233-7966.

Book Clubs for Adults

Our library hosts two book clubs, one on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 1, and the other on every 3rd Monday at 9 a.m. Anyone interested in joining may request a copy of the month’s book at the main desk, or just drop in at book club time. Join us for a stimulating book chat along with coffee and snacks.

Game Day

Every third Saturday the library schedules a children’s game day. Many board games are provided, and all school-aged students are welcome to participate. Come at noon and play until 2 p.m.

Literary Feast

We’re collecting recipes for a library cookbook. Please contribute your best recipes for any kind of food…hot or cold, easy or complicated, trendy or old-fashioned…submit them all. Bring or mail them to the library. Include your first and last names as you would want them in the book. Come on, let’s have a feast!

Join The Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library (FOL) are volunteers who plan events and fundraisers to enhance the programs and facilities of Clairton Public Library. Please join our group. The next meeting will be held on January 8, 2015.
