‘Chill Out and Read’ Winter Reading Club - January 5 - March 31

Stop into the library and pick up a reading record and have a chance to win prizes! Every time you read or listen to a book, simply record it by title or tally mark and receive a raffle ticket for each book read to become eligible to win prizes that will be raffled at the end of each month! Winter Reading Club is for kids, teens and adults!

Bouncing Babies and Books - Tuesday, January 6, 13, 20, and 27 at 10:30 a.m.

This storytime, for babies birth-24 months, will include a book, lots of singing, some musical instruments, and a lot of fun for you and your baby! No registration required.

An Afternoon with Robin Williams - Wednesday, January 7, 14, 21, and 28 at 2 p.m.

Please join us for some of the most entertaining movies featuring Robin Williams. Light refreshments. Please check our website for movie titles.

Do You Want To Build a Snowman? - Friday, January 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Make an adorable Olaf sock snowman! Most items provided, but bring the following: one small mixing bowl (per child) and one measuring cup (per family). Round out the night with a delicious Frozen snack! Registration requested.

Tai Chi for Health - Beginner & Continuing Classes - Mondays, January 12 - March 9

Beginner: 9 a.m.

Continuing Practice: 10:15 a.m.

Join instructor Gurney Bolster for 9 comfortable and relaxing sessions of Tai Chi exercises. Cost is $72 payble to Gurney at the first class.

Make and Take Mondays - January 12, 19, and 26 at 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Come to the library for a quick but fun make-and-take craft each week, then enjoy hanging out to play at the library and check out books for Winter Reading Club! Geared to ages 2-5, but all ages are welcome! No registration required.

eReader Class - Kindle Class - Monday, January 12 and 19 at 6:30 p.m.

Come learn how to find, download and transfer free library eBooks to your Kindle. Sessions are grouped by device and participants should bring their library card and a fully charged eReader to class. FREE – Registration required. Space is limited.

Lunch Day and Parachute Play - Tuesday, January 13, 20, and 27 at 12 p.m.

Set aside a special day to join friends for lunch at the library! Simply bring a bagged lunch and a drink, enjoy meeting and eating with new friends, then enjoy 30 minutes of parachute play activities! Geared to ages 2-4, but all ages are welcome! No registration required.

Mystery Lovers Book Club - Wednesday, January 14 at 2 p.m.

The Mystery Lovers book group meets each month. Start reading and join us! No registration required. Today's Selection: In the Woods by Tana French.

Reading Rockets Book Club - Wednesday, January 14 at 6:30 p.m.

Blast off and explore picture books with your child through play and hands-on activities at our new book club geared for children ages 3-6 (siblings welcome). Each month, we will focus on one book and make connections to the story through book extension stations. Today's selection: Pete the Cat.

Tales for 2s and 3s - Thursday, January 15, 22, and 29 at 10:30 a.m.

A storytime specifically geared for toddlers who are 24-36 months old with a caregiver. We will read great stories, sing a lot of songs, and have plenty of music, movement, and fun!

Family Craft Me a Story - Thursday, January 15 and 29 at 6:30 p.m.

Head to the library for our new evening family story/craft time that will be held every other week! A story, songs, musical instruments, parachute play, bubbles, and a related craft at each session! No registration required.

Preschool Alphabet Parade - Friday, January 16, 23, and 30 at 10:30 a.m.

Fun stories, songs, activities, and a craft for children ages 3-5 with a caregiver. We will travel through the alphabet and feature a letter each week. Children are welcome to bring an object to storytime that begins with our weekly featured letter!

The Demon of Brownsville Road: A Haunting Talk with Bob Cranmer - Saturday, January 17 at 12 p.m.

Join us for a visit by former Allegheny County Commissioner Bob Cranmer as he speaks about his recent book, The Demon of Brownsville Road. Registration is required -- space is limited.

No School Mystery Mondays - Monday, January 19 at 12:30 p.m.

We will feature one of David Kelly’s Ballpark Mysteries books, solve some mysteries of our own, and explore a famous ballpark. Come hungry! No ballpark is complete without hot dogs and chips! (Please alert us of any food allergies). Registration requested. Grades K-3.

New Release Afternoon Movie - January 20 at 2 p.m.

Don’t wait in line! Don’t spend that rental fee! Come to the library to enjoy a just released movie for FREE. Light refreshments will be served. Please check our website for movie titles.

Getting Crafty with Michelle (grades K-3) - Tuesday, January 20 and 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Join local Michael’s craft instructor Michelle as she introduces a new, exciting craft of the month, and take home a beautiful, unique creation! Registration requested. Tonight will feature glass and tile mosaics!

Good Reads, Good Deeds Book Club - Wednesday, January 21 at 6:30 p.m.

This book club, for children in grades 3-6 (along with an adult caregiver), will focus on stories that highlight character traits such as kindness, caring, compassion, acceptance, and differences. Books will be available at the library one month before each club meeting date. During each book discussion meeting, we will decide on a monthly service project. Registration requested. This month's selection: Pay It Forward – Young Reader’s Edition.

A B C - Anything Book Club - Thursday, January 22 at 2 p.m.

We read anything! Join us for a delightful book discussion each month. We read all types of books. No registration required. This Month -- Five days at Memorial by Sheri Fink

Drop-in Tech Help - Monday, January 26 at 6 p.m.

In addition to our technology appointments, we will now be offering walk-in technology help from 6-8 p.m. the last Monday of the month. Drop by to have your questions answered, whether it is about your smart phone, eReader or computer, bring your device and questions! FREE and no registration required!

Teen Advisory Board (TAB) Meeting - Monday, January 26 at 6:30 p.m.

Come share your ideas and have your voice be heard about what YOU want to see at the library, recommend books, websites, programs, and social media to other teens, and earn volunteer hours. Become involved in YOUR community and YOUR library! Registration requested.

Brushes Before Bedtime Family Art Night - Wednesday, January 28 at 6:30 p.m.

Join us for a night of family art using various techniques and leave with a masterpiece designed by your entire family! We will provide the supplies and art smocks. No age limit requirements. A “how to draw” segment will be included in each program. Registration requested. Tonight: Snowmen at Night.

Family Flick Fridays - Friday, January 30 at 6:30 p.m.

The week is over and the family is together! Enjoy a new release family move that your whole family will love! Kids can bring their blankets, pillows, and stuffed friend – we will provide popcorn and a drink! Registration requested. Please check our website for titles.

Introduction to Crochet - Saturday, January 31 at 10:30 a.m.

In this class, you will learn the basics of crochet and how to do the single crochet stitch. Start a scarf for the cooler months or make a simple and practical dishcloth. Register online or call the library. Space is limited so please register early. Supplies to bring: One ball yarn and one crochet hook size I/9.
