During the Old Trails Business and Professional Women’s June meeting and 61st birthday celebration, scholarships to four area high school students were presented.

Staley
Dakota Staley

 

 

 

 

Dakota Staley, daughter of George Staley and Amy Van Divner, is the senior from California High School to receive the Pamela J. Antonio Memorial Scholarship. Dakota, an outstanding student with many extra-curricular activities, will be attending Robert Morris University for a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. She will be working toward being a criminal prosecutor.

 

Samuel Marchewka, son of Shawn and Terri Marchewka, from Charleroi High School, also received the Pamela J. Antonio Scholarship. One of the top students and very involved in STEM, he will be attending Duquesne University for a Bachelor of Science degree in finance leading to regulations/financial law. Samuel was unable to attend.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ortosky
Shannon Ortosky

 

 

 

 

 

 

Receiving the Helen Harkins Memorial Scholarship is Shannon Ortosky, daughter of Bryon and Beth Ortosky, of Beth Center High School. She will be attending California University of Pennsylvania for a degree in secondary education: mathematics. Her goal is to be a high school math teacher to show students that everyone can benefit by using math in daily life.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tomko
Sara Tomko

 

 

 

Also receiving this scholarship is Sara Tomko of Bentworth High School. She is the daughter of Melissa Tomko. Sara has been very involved in theater and Girl Scouts while still maintaining her academics. She had also been a member of the Washington County peer jury, where she has earned many hours of community service. Sara will be attending the University of Pittsburgh for a B.S. in economics with the hope of attending graduate school to become a corporate transactional lawyer.
