Jefferson Hills resident Frederick Livingston, a police officer for Edgewood Borough Police Department, was recently featured on Point Park University’s website discussing his inspiration for entering this career field.

“I have overcome many obstacles and leaped over many hurdles to become a police officer. Growing up in a predominantly African-American community, many of my friends, neighbors and family members were not supportive of me joining the ranks of law enforcement. Their lack of respect and knowledge to understanding the differences and indifferences is what inspired me most to become a police officer,” Livingston explained.
Livingston graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and a Master of Science in criminal justice administration, both from Point Park University in Downtown Pittsburgh.
