The award is one of the hospital’s highest honors. It is given to an employee who has 10 or more years of service to MVH, exhibits significant contributions to the health system over and above what is required and demonstrates qualities of leadership, loyalty, compassion and empathy.

The 2015 Protin Award recipient, Daniel F. Simmons, senior vice president and chief financial officer, presented the award to Ms. Nester.

“Lynda Nester is very passionate about nursing and education,” said Mr. Simmons. “She shares Monongahela Valley Hospital’s accomplishments and best-practices with other nursing leaders locally and nationally. In addition, she has developed many individual educational programs and developed a formal orientation program for new nurses. Plus, she takes health care screenings out into the community working diligently to connect local residents with health care providers.”When she graciously accepted the award, Ms. Nester said to the more than 250 MV H employees in attendance, “I am receiving this award today because of each and every one of you. Over the years, I have had the privilege to work with each of you p roviding patient care or on a project and it truly is an honor.”
