On Saturday, October 22, Fellowship Alliance Church hosted their 3rd annual chili cook-off. With judges from the Elizabeth Township police department, fire department and EMS a total of 11 chilis were critiqued.

Andrew Rogowski (left), Jozef Turcan (middle), and Adam Blake (right), were happy to be the judges for the chili cook-off.

Pastor Jon Smith and his wife, Jennifer, who moved from North Carolina only five months earlier, were happy to host this cook-off. The cook-off provided dinner for all who attended. In addition to the chili, there were types of cornbread served and hot dogs and s’mores, along with a bake sale.

Outside activities took place for the kids, which included games with candy prizes and a bonfire.

Winners took home a wooden cutting board with the 2016 chili cook-off place awarded burned into the wood and a keychain that said ‘Be Bold.’ Third place winners were Fallout Pepper Chili and Joe's Garage Chili, second place went to Wendy's Sister’s Chili, and first place was awarded to Ghost Pepper Chili with the top comment being, "...it had a bite but didn't linger."

All proceeds from the cook-off will be donated to Light of Life in Pittsburgh, as they work closely in conjunction with that ministry. Light of Life helps provide shelter to the homeless, a soup kitchen to the hungry, and drug rehabilitation to addicts. Fellowship Alliance joins Light of Life every 3rd Saturday of the month.

The Smiths say they look forward to next year’s cook-off.
