The Mon Valley Academy for the Arts (MVAA), an arts and culture organization serving the Mon Valley, is pleased to announce its recent grant award from EQT Foundation to support the MVAA Summer Program.

The EQT MVA/TCOP Concerts in the Park 2017 program began with a kick-off event in April, announcing the new series of four concerts in Chess Park in the heart of Monongahela, taking place between June and September 2017. Each production will feature professional bands and orchestras, as well as, food vendors and other arts activities.
The Concert Schedule includes • July 2 - Frank Podroskey’s “Pittsburgh Big Band Legends” Orchestra (Big Band Jazz) • August 6 - Andy Gregg Band (Classic Country) • September 3 - Frank Podroskey’s Orchestra, Andy Gregg Band, and the Twin Coaches Junior Stage Band, plus a special guest artist (TBA).
The EQT MVA/TCOP Concerts in the Park project is the latest presentation in an ongoing program of the MVAA’s Twin Coaches Orchestra Project (TCOP). The project goals include preserving the musical history of the Twin Coaches and the Mon Valley, while bringing the music back to life by sharing it with participants and audiences of all ages.
MVAA President and founder Mark A. Smith, said, “We cannot begin to say how thankful we are for EQT’s support of this phase of our programs. Without their generosity, we could not bring this quality of programming to the Mon Valley and continue our mission of enriching live through the arts.”
