With a night that almost did not happen because of earlier thunderstorms, the Monessen Night Out at City Park was a success! The event, promoting police and resident awareness, was held on Friday, August 4, from 5:30 – 8:00 pm, on the Monessen Walking Track.

Sponsored by the Westmoreland Drug and Alcohol Commission in partnership with the police department, the event was about giving local police officers an opportunity to engage and interact with local business and organizations.
Colleen Hughes, Executive Director of Westmoreland Drug & Alcohol Commission explained that everyone who introduces themselves to an officer receives an envelope which contain tickets for raffles, free food, and a chance to win bikes or other prizes. Julie Lovis, Prevention Coordinator for the program says that the event strengthens community and officer relations.
The evening featured a police car parade at 5:30 pm on Grand Blvd., as well as games, prizes, food, and music. Over 200 people attended the event. All proceeds benefit the Monessen Police Department.
