Charleroi’s Day of Hope was held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, and Charleroi CityReach Church, 1006 Fallowfield Ave., sponsored this day of giving. There were also area businesses and churches who helped sponsor the event.

The Day of Hope took place at Charleroi Trustees Park from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. CityReach Church Pastor Gregg Anders said, “The day is a day to provide hope to reach outside the church.” He, his family, and many volunteers worked to make the day worth all the efforts.
The Day of Hope featured everything of the following for free: groceries, lunch provided by First Christian Church in Charleroi, clothes, haircuts, photos, job services, dental exams, and – on the more fun side - snow cones, entertainment provided by the band “His Royal Blood,” face-painting, and kid-zone activities. According to Pastor Anders, the third annual event had a budget of $10,000. He added that it took months to plan, and a year’s worth of fundraisers.
Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce Director Deb Keefer said, “It is an awesome opportunity for the community to come together to help others with items and services that many might take for granted. CityReach does a great job of coordinating the activities and making the day fun for all.”
