On Friday, November 17, Santa made a special visit to Monongahela. All of West Main Street was decorated with colorful Christmas lights, tiny Christmas trees, and festive snowflakes on the street lamps. From the Monongahela Area Library down to First Street, music filled the air.

Santa arrived around 5:30 p.m. that evening to see all of the good kids in Monongahela. A long line of children and families waited to meet Santa and his elves. After telling him their Christmas wishes and taking a photo together, the elves gave the children goody bags to take home.

Dance Co. by Lori in New Eagle held a performance with their dancers in a blocked off section of West Main. Each team performed to a different song, all contemporary takes of traditional carols. Parents and other community members gathered around to watch and record their performances.

Chess Park was bustling with activity. The park was well-lit for the occasion. Community members sang carols in the pavilion and attracted a large crowd of people walking through the town. A small train also operated around the park for the children to ride.

The library held a craft show during the day. Vendors sold wreaths, warm clothing,candles and other products seasonal products for the holidays. While Santa was with the children outside, Mrs. Claus made an appearance inside the library for the children. The Volunteer Fire Department held a craft show as well, with similar items for sale.

St. Damian of Molokai Catholic Church decorated and opened the doors to community members during Light-Up Night.

To warm up, the St. Damien of Molokai Catholic Church Community offered hot cocoa and cookies to cold community members and crafts for the children to create while warming up. Many of the churches along West Main Street were also open and decorated for the public.
