On Thursday, May 17, 2018 The Monessen Center for Active Adults celebrated all those in the community who were turning 80 or older this year.

Birthday Celebrants

The celebration started with entertainment at 11 a.m. from oldies singer Mark Davis, lunch was served at noon and at 1 p.m. the Mayor of Monessen, along with Westmoreland County Commissioner Gina Cerilli and Commissioner Anderson's aide Sean Kertes, honored those people with certificates for reaching their respected ages.

There were two centurions in the group - Julia Paholski from Belle Vernon and Scripio White from Monessen. Many of you may remember Scripio from his days walking the streets delivering mail when he was a mailman.

When asked what his secret was to looking so good at 100, he replied with wine, women and psalm. As for Paholski, she said her secret is chocolate.

After the certificate presentation, the party ended with cake and ice cream along with some more dancing and laughing. There were 100+ in attendance at this celebration. It was a very nice afternoon and a great celebration. It was a real joy to see the smiles of those who attended.
