Clairton Mayor Rich Lattanzi held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, October 26th to introduce the community to the new Produce Marketplace.

“Our residents have been in need of healthy and fresh food for too long and they have stayed with us patiently awaiting for a day, just like today, that will make their lives easier and much healthier,” said Lattanzi.

The Produce Marketplace will sell dairy, bread, deli, meat, poultry, and a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Hannah Hardy, of Live Well Allegheny, expressed how they have embarked on a county-wide health and wellness campaign to help communities gain access to fresh and healthy foods.

State Representative Austin Davis stressed that this accomplishment would not have been possible without the mayor, council, and residents all working together. “You stayed and said this is your community and you're going to rebuild it, and you're going to make it better than it was before,” said Davis. He added, “That's what it's going to take, brick-by-brick, community-by-community. Making sure that we are revitalizing this Mon Valley.”

The Produce Marketplace is located at 519 St. Clair Avenue in Clairton and can be reached by phone at 412-945-3398. Through the upcoming weeks, they will adapt store hours based on the community's needs.
