Monessen VFW Post 1190 and American Legion Post 28 each made donations recently of $500 to the Monessen VFD #1. The funds were used to install a radio system into a fire truck that the department recently purchased from Rennerdale, PA. Fire company.

The vehicle is a 1997 Pierce Quantam 105’ Aerial and was produced by Pierce Manufacturing. Pierce has built fire trucks since 1940, and is the highest volume producer of fire vehicles in the United States today. It will replace Engine #3, a 1989 Pumper and Truck #3, a 1976 Aerial.
The new piece of equipment needs several upgrades and the Fire Department is still accepting donations from individuals, businesses and other organizations to bring it up to full operational status.
