The Charthene Club is a women's organization based in Charleroi that is dedicated to providing opportunities for women of this community and the surrounding area.

At their recent club meetings, Mrs. Deena Issi, Chairperson of the Youth and Education Committee announced the Charthene Club ‘Girl of the Month’ recipients for January and February. Madison Smith was selected as the ‘Girl of the Month for January, and Elizabeth Muchesko was selected as the ‘Girl of the Month for February.

Madison received the Challenge Program Volunteer Award and the Rotary Club Student of the Month for April 2019. She is currently serving as the Vice President of the Executive Committee. She participates in Marching and Symphonic Band, Foreign Language Club, Relay for Life, SADD, Powder Puff Football, Musical Cast, Drama Club, and Theater Showcase.
Madison’s community involvement includes: Tutoring at Charleroi Elementary, Sunday School Teacher and Team leader for Bible School at Journey by Grace, and Activities Facilitator for the Residence at Hilltop. She also works at Hoss’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant.
Madison is the daughter of Jason and Danielle Smith of Charleroi. Her future plans are to attend Clarion University to pursue a degree in International Business.

Elizabeth Muchesko
Elizabeth is an honor roll student and a senior at Charleroi Area School District, where she was inducted into the National Honor Society. She was the Assistant Drum Major and is now the Senior Drum Major. Elizabeth also participates in Marching Band, Show Choir, Drama Club, Executive Committee, Academic League, and Yearbook Committee as Editor.
Elizabeth’s community involvement includes, Peer Tutoring and working at the Mon Valley YMCA Children’s Summer Camp. She works at the North Charleroi Dairy Queen.
Elizabeth is the daughter of Kristy Altemara and George Muchesko of North Charleroi. Her future plans are to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania to obtain a degree in Secondary Education (History/Social Studies).
