“Spotlight on Our Collections” will be the theme as the Elizabeth Township Historical Society (ETHS) reorganizes their historical displays and offices in the Coates House at 5811 Smithfield Street, Boston, Pa.
The goal is to introduce members as well as the public to the household goods, memorabilia, photos and even mining equipment in addition to the history and genealogical materials that are on display or in storage at the ETHS.
“The public is invited to join our members to learn the stories behind many items,” said Debbie Gilbert, Vice President of the historical society. “The invitation is extended to anyone who also wants to learn and may attend one or all of the talks”
President Linda Bennett said short business meetings will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. with the programs at 7:30 p.m. at the Coates House. “We hope to be enlightened and share a few surprises,” she said.

Gibson Girl to Suffragists - Thursday, March 14, 7:30 p.m.
Selections from the ETHS vintage clothing collection will highlight the shifts in women’s fashion from the early1900s to military women in World War I. ETHS members Debbie Gilbert and Norma Werner will talk about the impact of designers like Coco Chanel for this program during Women’s History Month.
Tupperware in the 19th Cetnury – Thursday, April 11, 7:30 p.m.
Chuck Dulick of California, Pa. will share his insights on crocks or stoneware made of clay that were produced primarily in the 18th and 19th centuries in Western Pennsylvania as a utilitarian household necessity. Dulick will talk about the clays, glazing and varied purposes.
Vintage cameras, typewriters, phonographs and glassware will be among the future topics.
