South Park Women's Club Officers Installed For 2019-2020

Members Reflect Back on Successful Community Outreach

On Saturday May 18, the South Park Women’s Club (SPWC) installed new officers for 2019-2020 at Ye Olde Place Inn, during the clubs' yearly Daisy luncheon.

The past years officers/committees were thanked for their untiring work this past year. The new officers are Sandi Mialki, President; Charm Papi, Vice-President; Gay Masztak, Second VP; Theresa Wright, Secretary; and Rowena Partyka, Treasurer.

The club was very proud to have completed many projects through their fund-raising efforts all year long. Their two major fundraisers are their annual craft show and South Park Community Day. At both of these events their special lottery tickets are sold. During their year, smaller fundraising takes place.

Some of the community support that the SPWC was able to help with over the last year were:

Financial help provided to 3 burn victims from the township. Christmas saw 3 families given funds to help with their Christmas holiday, while ladies provided many gifts for each child in the families.
Soldiers were sent filled Christmas stockings.
Our Public Works were given thank you treats bought from St. Joan of Arc Youth Group fundraiser.
250 serviceman overseas received Easter eggs stuffed with goodies.
Scholarships- (3) $500 scholarships are given out each year. Two are given to ladies from South Park, who attend CCAC South. One is given to a Interact high school student. These students have helped the club each year especially, at their craft show and community day.
Donations were made to the Historical Society and Montour Trail after the flooding damage done last year.
A Tee and Green were sponsored at the Friends of South Park, County Park Annual Golf Outing.
Ads were bought in the PIAA game programs for our high school track and swim teams, wishing them “Good Luck”.
“Meals On Wheels” recipients each received a fruit cup and Eat N Park bunny cookie for Easter.

While the SPAC helps financially in so many ways in our South Park Township, civic duty is also part of their yearly schedule. Some of their activities include:

The club has two roads assigned to them for South Park Township clean-up days. Twice a year our ladies are out cleaning up their two roads.
Judging of costumes at the Lion’s Halloween party is always a fun time for ladies, especially when they hand out the winning dollars to best costumes.
Each township ‘Light-Up Night’ sees SPWC Elves serving hot chocolate/cookies at this Santa event.

The ladies have a 2 month hiatus before beginning all over again with budget and board meetings in August. September rolls around and SPWC is in full swing with monthly membership meetings held in township community room. South Park women, as well as ladies from surrounding communities, are welcome to join them, so they can continue to HELP, where and when needed. VOLUNTEER and have fun/satisfaction, great socialization while doing it.
