Three Days of Fun Squeezed Into One Fun-Filled Day

By Jill Runfola

All the typical fun of ‘Charleroi Community Days’ was packed into one day, on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Moke’s Karate School performed karate demonstrations at the event – pictured (from L to R): front - Jayden Rogers and Declan Blair. Back row - Master Bruce Smith, Mary Addis; Richard Rogers, Seusei Brewer, Souie Todd Crouch, Master Chuck Baileu, owner and master instructor.

The event, sponsored by the Charleroi Borough, has typically been a three-day event that drew crowds to celebrate the Fourth of July. This year however, the decision was made to keep it to just one fun-filled, exciting day!

“We went back to the old-fashioned street fair this year,” said Jody Cheplic, Charleroi Councilwoman. “Instead of much larger professional vendors like we have had in years past, this year we have local vendors, including church groups and small businesses,” she added.

Festivities throughout the day included a karate demonstration, music by ‘DJ Jerry’, numerous food vendors, Italian Ice, performances by Mon Valley Super Stars and The Dance Loft. The evening concluded with a spectacular fireworks display.
