Changes to PA Voting Permit Mail-in Ballots, No Straight Party Voting.

The next South Park Democratic Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, at 7:30 PM in the South Park Township Community Room. It is open to the public and to all voters.

Last year, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf signed into law that Pennsylvania voters have the option of casting their ballots by mail without having to provide a reason. Which means South Park voters can now apply for a mail-in ballot for the April 28 primary at www.pavoterservices.pa.gov for an online absentee ballot or a mail-in ballot. Instead of going to their polling place on election day, voters can apply for a mail-in ballot if they don't qualify for an absentee ballot.

People who want to apply online must provide a driver's license number or a PennDOT ID number. Anyone without those I.D. numbers must download a paper application and mail it to their county election office. The deadline for county election offices to receive applications for mail-in ballots is 5:00 p.m. April 21. Voters will get a ballot in the mail to complete and return to their county election office by 8:00 p.m. on election day.

The online application also allows mail-in voters to request that their county election office add them to an annual mail-in voter ballot request list. Their ballot application will then be automatically mailed to them each year.

Also new this year, Straight Party voting will no longer be available on the ballots. Voters will now have to vote for each candidate, meaning you cannot check one box. And, if you want to register to vote or change your registration you can easily do it at www.pavoterservices.pa.gov.
