2020 South Park Historical Society Guest Speaker Series Begins March 17.

You are invited to join the South Park Historical Society on Tuesday, March 17 at 7 p.m. for the first Guest Speaker Series presentation of 2020. The Historical Society will be welcoming local historian Noreen Beatty. She will be presenting Boats on the Ohio River. The presentation will take place at the Library Fire Hall at 6581 Library Road in South Park. Attendance is free for both members and nonmembers.

For nearly a quarter of a century, the South Park Historical Society (SPHS) has been dedicated to celebrating our community’s history. You are invited to join and help preserve our past and present for future generations. Historical Society members also get free admission to the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, as well as other discounts and perks.

Memberships are affordable fun for everyone! People of all ages and from all places are welcome to join.

Books About Our Local History

The South Park Historical Society has published two books about the history of the community:

• Historic Snowden Township (South Park Township): $20
• History of Allegheny County’s South Park: Farm Lands to Park Lands: $20

Schedule a Tour of the South Park Historical Society Museum

Located at the corner of the Port Authority Park-n-Ride lot at 6425 Pleasant Street in South Park, the South Park Historical Society Museum showcases South Park’s rich traditions and captivating history like you’ve never seen them before. The Historical Society has procured, studied, and cared for one of the area’s most unique collections; which includes exhibits of local mining memorabilia, railroad photos and artifacts; plus a look back at South Park schools through the decades, and much more.
