"The Cincinnati Mine Disaster of 1913" will be the featured program of the Peters Creek Historical Society on Monday, April 22, at 7:30pm.  The program will be held at Wrights United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia.

Len Marraccini, society member and curator of the mining room at the Enoch Wright House will present the history of this local mining disaster caused by a major methane explosion and subsequent fire that took the lives of 97 men, young boys and a rescue team member. Many photographs will reveal the dramatic, sorrowful impact the disaster created in families and the community.

PCHS Hosting ‘Tiara Tea’

The society will be hosting a "Tiara Tea" beginning at 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 18 at the historic Enoch Wright House, 815 Venetia Road, Venetia.  Guests are encouraged to wear a tiara or fancy hat while enjoying savories, sweets and brewed tea in the charm of 19th Century ambiance.  A donation of $25 per person payable by check or cash at the door.  Seating is limited; reservations are required by calling 724-348-6406.

Memorial Flag Garden

The Memorial Flag Garden will be on display at the Wright House on Memorial Day, 4th of July and Veterans Day.  Donation is $6 per flag.  Past participants will be contacted for renewal.  For new flag requests, please visit our website at peterscreekhistoricalsociety.org and follow the instructions on the Memorial Flag Garden form.
