As a local service project, the Zonta Club of Washington County recently donated sweat suits and stuffed animals to help comfort trauma patients brought to Monongahela Valley Hospital's Emergency Department.

Zonta Members  Collect Gifts for Trauma Patients

The 24 members of the Washington County club are a local chapter of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization focused on making a difference in the lives of women. "Often times, trauma patients need clothes to go home in and we love to have something to comfort small children when they're scared, said Emergency Department Director Kelly Macheska, adding, "We are very grateful to the Zontas."

In the photo: Left, Zonta member Suzanne Palko presented the donations to ED Director Kelly Macheska along with Vickie DeMarco, who is also the telecommunications manager at MVH. A grant provided the money for the sweat suits and the club raised money to purchase the fluffy stuffed animals.
