Lt. Wise was a 1980 graduate of Elizabeth Forward and an honor student at the Citadel. He flew 36 combat missions over Iraq but sadly lost his life in a training exercise over the Mediterranean Sea on July 30, 1998. The park was renamed the Ron Wise Memorial Field in his honor.
