Monessen Veterans Council will host the 70th Annual Mon Valley Veterans Day Parade and Celebration on November 8 at Monessen's Eastgate War Memorials. This will be a day-long celebration and parade starting at 2 p.m. honoring the heroes of the Mon Valley.

The parade will feature marching groups from the Military, ROTC, high school bands, Veterans groups from Washington to Greensburg, from Uniontown to the South Hills, and many other groups with vehicles, floats and displays.

The Greater Monessen Historical Society and museum will have an exhibit displaying memorabilia from many of the Valley's veterans that will be open through the month of November. The Monessen Library will present classic war films of the 20th century during the months of October and November and will be free to the general public.

The Veterans Council is putting together an 8 x 5 1/2 commemorative fundraising booklet if you or your business would like to place an ad or recognize someone in the booklet. The rates are $100 full page, $50 half page and $25 quarter page (business card). Anyone interested in participating in the parade should contact Ron Chromulak, Parade Chairman, at 412-515-7247 or ron1bev@comcast.net.
