Dust off your zoot suits and flapper dresses for a 1920s-style party – the 1st Annual Olive Thomas Flapper Fête to be held Friday, October 17 at The Willow Room, Rt. 51 North, Belle Vernon from 6 - 10 p.m.

The new Mid Mon Valley Cultural Trust celebrates its first fundraising event in support of the much-needed roof repairs needed to move forward in its efforts to implement a plan and restore the regions only movie theater built in 1891, The Coyle Theater.

"This is a great opportunity to support The Coyle Theater and honor Charleroi's world famous Ziegfield girl and silent screen star, Olive Thomas," said Melanie Patterson, acting chairwoman of the new MMVCT. She added, "A historic theater can enliven the neighborhood, reinvigorate a community, and keep it as a beautiful place for future generations."

The event will highlight Thomas' 1920 comedy film titled "The Flapper" with a private screening as guests enjoy butler-passed hor d'oeuvres, champagne, Coyle cupcakes, movie popcorn, a flapper photo booth, a strolling magician, informal flapper fashions modeled by local antique shops, a Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle, and a silent auction item for a week stay (of their choice) at a private luxury oceanside condominium in Daytona Beach Shores.

The public is welcome! Come and mix and mingle with the new members of the Mid Mon Valley Cultural Trust and other Valley residents to support the rebirth of this local treasure. The MMVCT board members are Melanie Patterson; Nikki Sheppick; Ken Thompson; Joyce Kossol; Marty Schiff; Larry Cowell; Camera Bartolotta; and Donna Vesely.

Tickets are available from any board member as well as at The Back Porch Restaurant in Lower Speers, Prima Diva Boutique in Charleroi, and Bee Graphix in North Belle Vernon. Advanced tickets are $50 and a limited number of tickets will be sold. No tickets will be sold at the door. Please contact 724-331-3654 if you would like tickets or to join our team and help us get the lights back on at The Coyle.
