Over the last few years, there have been a couple of instances of fairly large aircraft landing on too-short runways (at the wrong airport) and of near misses around airports. The Federal Aviation Administration has plans in the works. At the October meeting of the Retired Men's Luncheon Group of Pleasant Hills, Henrik Vejlstrup of the FAA will discuss Next Gen, a new high tech way of controlling air traffic. Mr. Vejlstrup flew as a pilot for 23 years before joining the FAA 18 years ago.
The meeting will be held at noon on Thursday, October 16 in the Fellowship Hall of the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Old Clairton Road and Audrey Drive in Pleasant Hills. Cost for the lunch is $7.
For additional information, or to indicate your intention to attend, call the office of the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church at 412-655-2000. Please call by Friday, October 10 to be included in the lunch order.
