The public is invited to the October 20 meeting of the Charleroi Area Historical Society to hear Mr. Gary Streiner speak on the filming of "Night of the Living Dead" in the Evans City Cemetery and the upcoming rededication of the cemetery chapel after a major restoration took place.

Gary Streiner is a resident of Evans City, PA and also one of the original ten investors in the film "Night of the Living Dead." Gary will be speaking as well about a fundraiser he led to save the chapel at the Evans City Cemetery.

The effort was totally accomplished through the use of a social media campaign on Facebook, and the result of saving the chapel has resonated throughout the town of Evans City and has resulted in a renewed energy for a little town that hasn't had anything to cheer about since the days of black gold or oil production back in the late 1800s. The talk will be about how pride in a small neighborhood can do wonders to help this town gain respect among the small towns in its area.

With Halloween coming in the month of October, what better way to spend an evening hearing about the place where an iconic film made history? Learn about the film and what it took to bring its centerpiece "set" back to its original glory.

The doors of the Riverside Room, 303 SPHS Plaza Center, open at 6:30 p.m. The presentation with light refreshments begins at 7 p.m. For more information, call 724-483-4961 or 724-925-1742
