Following the luncheon President Karlowsky recognized the past presidents: Lois Hawe, Ruth

Hanchin, Jean Careatti, Ruth Adele Corrin and Joan McCloskey and Bonnie Daylong. They each received a memento of their dedication to the Athene Club.

Sylvia Whiten, program chairman, introduced speaker Ruth Adele Corrin. Corrin presented the history of the club. It was formed on December 9, 1902 by Mabel Mountsier and a group of women. The Greek goddess of Wisdom, Athene, was selected as the name of the organization. The club was federated on October 5, 1907.

During the years the Athene Club has supported the Red Cross, Girl Scouts, football and basketball as well as other projects held by the town. Entertaining the senior girls of the Charleroi Area High School at a tea has been a tradition since 1963.

The next Athene meeting will be on November 14.
