Last year saw the publication of local author Heidi Peters' first book. Redbird: A Memoir was published by the Colorado-based company Crosslink Publishing.

Ms. Peters' book is based on her own life and experiences. It started as a journal intended to be a gift for family. When asked why she decided to submit a manuscript for publication she said, "All of the material in my book was inspired by real life. The joys and struggles are all part of the journey we as people go through in a lifetime. I wanted to document my growth as a person, both spiritually and emotionally." The cover art for the book was also created by a local, Upper St. Clair native Jack Puglisi.

Ms. Peters received a B.A. from Saint Vincent College in Communication and Information Arts. She lives in the suburbs of Pittsburgh with her husband and two children. Redbird: A Memoir can be purchased through Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com and Crosslinkpublishing.com.
