Nominate Outstanding Achievements in Science and Technology by Nov. 16

Carnegie Science Center is now accepting nominations for the 20th annual Carnegie Science Awards, which will be conferred on May 6, 2016, at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. Nominations must be submitted by Monday, Nov. 16.

Every year, Carnegie Science Awards honor a select number of deserving organizations and individuals across the region – researchers, entrepreneurs, educators, and innovators. Their stories showcase Pittsburgh’s excellence in science and technology achievements.

For two decades, the Science Center’s award ceremony has celebrated the accomplishments of more than 500 individuals and organizations for the region’s most prestigious science awards.

Two new award categories have been added for this year. The Innovation in Energy Award recognizes the transformative growth of applied scientific research in regard to the discovery and development of new, cleaner energy technologies in our region. The Leadership in Career and Technical Education Award recognizes leadership in educating students in various technical and vocational subjects.

Other awards categories include: Leadership in STEM Education, Elementary through University Educators, Corporate Innovation, Entrepreneur, Environmental, Emerging Female Scientist, and Advanced Manufacturing and Materials.

Carnegie Science Awards are presented by Eaton, a power management company, and the event chairman will be Ruppert Russoniello, president of Eaton’s Circuit Protection Division. Chevron serves as the event’s prime sponsor. Award sponsors include Allegheny Health Network, Braskem, FedEx Ground, Kennametal Inc., NOVA Chemicals, Orionvega, Pittsburgh Business Times, and the Pittsburgh Technology Council.

Nominating a worthy candidate is as simple as completing a brief online form, available at CarnegieScienceCenter.org/ScienceAwards.
