The Monongahela Area Historical Society (MAHS) will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 in the parlor room of the First Presbyterian Church, 609 Chess Street, Monongahela.

Please enter through the Chess Street entrance. Dr. Mark A. McConaughy, regional archaeologist for the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission's Bureau for Historic Preservation at the Bushy Run Battlefield, will present a PowerPoint program on Western Pennsylvania Pre-history. His program will include mention of the local Indian burial mounds known as the Crall Mounds. These mounds were at the site of the present Mounds Park in Monongahela. Discussion with light refreshments follow speaker. For more information, please call 724-292-8247. MAHS meetings are held September through May, on the fourth Thursday of the month.

Additionally, please consider doing our self-guided walking tour of Monongahela Historic District, available all of November. There are 23 historic locations to visit along the way. Brochures are available in the outside doorway in the covered brochure holder at the museum or at Autumn Antiquities next door and also at CJ's Furniture. We have incorporated smartphone technology into the tour, which includes video and narration for each location. All you need is your smartphone or Internet enabled tablet and the free QR Reader app. There is no fee for this event, though donations are gladly accepted
