The Extravaganza & Bazaar at Crest Avenue Apartments in Charleroi, which took place on Saturday, November 14th at 4 p.m., had something for everyone, and the residents who did not attend really missed out. Although the crowd was small, the entertainment was a lot of fun. The entrance fee was only $2, and proceeds benefit the residents’ Christmas party fund.

Mary Patrick, who planned the event, thanked everyone enthusiastically for attending. Trudy Taylor, appointed by Patrick, was “Mistress of Ceremony.” A gifted and talented event and party planner, Patrick has been doing this for many years and is young at heart at age 80.

First to entertain was First Baptist Church Dance Troup from Donora, a youth ministry. They performed a few lovely routines, swaying and moving all in harmony to upbeat praise music. Audience remarks were overhead: “That was awesome. That was beautiful.”

Next was Mr. Chico from Pittsburgh, with dancing and lip sync. He really livened up the crowd, encouraging everyone to get up and dance, which they eventually did.
Other featured festivities included: a pro wrestler, singers, show and tell by vendors, raffles, and a Chinese auction.

A buffet-style meal was served, as were share-a-dish casseroles. Patrick made the ham and chicken, and others prepared dishes, too, making for a delicious dinner.

Terri Greenlee also sang praise music. She said, “We should be thankful for our blessings everyday.” After singing a beautiful worship song, she said, “I hope you’re clapping for that empty grave. Patrick said of her blessings, “I’m happy for all my friends like you all, and that I could do something like this. But it’s not me that does this.” She then lifted up her arms heavenward.
