The Monessen Public Library Friends Group, in association with the A. H. E. P. A., St. Spyridon’s Philoptochos Society, and St. Spyridon Auxiliary Catering, sponsored the 24th annual Monessen Public Library Luncheon on October 13, 2015 at the Hellenic Center.

The theme was “Sparkle & Shine: Celebrate the Arts.” The luncheon was a fundraiser for Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center.

Over 250 people attended. There were 32 tables with table themes ranging from Broadway, Hollywood, Dancing, Music, and Art of Eastern Europe, to Mimes, Ballet, Hairstyling, and Andy Warhol. The menu consisted of salad, dinner rolls, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, candied carrots and Boston cream pie.

Friends’ President Toni Tetteris gave the welcome and introductions, followed by Rev. Fred Pfeil of St. Michael’s Antiochian Orthodox Church with the invocation. Cleon Kordistos, President of A. H. P. E. A., and Dave Zilka, Library Director, delivered remarks.

Melanie Taylor, Pittsburgh radio and television personality, was the guest speaker. John Paterra performed with piano accompaniment by Dave Crisci. A benediction by Rev. Michael J. Crookston of the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church concluded the afternoon.

Officers of the Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center Friends group are: Toni Tetteris, president, Kathleen Kelemen, vice president, Helen Manning, secretary, and Deborah Gregor, treasurer.
