The Friends group has gifted to South Park a solar-powered light and pole on Corrigan Drive, which adds to the existing two lights and poles that were installed in previous years.

The Friends group is encouraging the continuation of the lights and poles on the walking path, and has decided to pay for light as a way to support for the project and offer a good-will gesture for the people that walk the path.

This light was made possible because of the community involvement in Friends activities and events throughout the years. A special thank you goes to Don Stewart and Frequency Electric for the installation and to the county for their support of the Friends group.

The Friends group, in the past, has gifted to the park a 20-station fit trail, a lighted fountain on Maple Springs Drive, and three outdoor cement chess and checker tables.

The Friends hopes for continued community support and attendance in 2016! If you would like information about the lighting project or to purchase a light, please contact the lighting chairman, Bruce McGlothlin, at bmcglothlin@hotmail.com.
