Come to the Oliver Miller Homestead on Sunday, June 19 from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. for ‘The Arts Come to the Homestead.’
Although the late 18th century was a difficult time of hard work and often one of deprivation, here on the frontier, there was also much of beauty to discover.
On this Sunday you will be exposed to some of these 18th century types of art such as the pottery of Dan Templeton, a potter from Westerwald Pottery and the hornwork of Willy Frankfort, a master horner whose work is displayed in museums and at Williamsburg.
At 3:00 p.m. the Pittsburgh Historical Music Society Orchestra will perform a concert of music of the Whiskey Rebellion era.
A new floor cloth will be installed in the keeping room of the Stone House and an artist who specializes in creating these floor cloths will have more of her work on display.
On display will be drawings completed by local children of their favorite site at the homestead. Paintings of various sites on and around the Homestead will also be on display.
