Monessen Founders Day of Living History was held on August 15, 2015 in Monessen City Park, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The festival is in celebration of the 150th birthday of Col. James Martinus Schoonmaker. Col. James M. Schoonmaker acquired the site on which Monessen stands from farmers of Rostraver Township in 1894. Read more...
