The Greater Monessen Historical Society will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Colonel James Schoonmaker's cavalry charge on Fort Star during the Third Battle of Winchester on Friday, September 19.

The Friends of the South Park Township Library will hold their first meeting of their new fiscal year Wednesday evening, September 24 at 7 p.m. in the township library. Members are asked to attend this meeting, which prepares for the pending fall sale. Meetings usually last approximately an hour and are held four times a year. New members are welcome to come to this meeting.

Monthly meetings of the South Hills Friends of the Montour Trail are held at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the South Park Township Community room, located at 2675 Brownsville Road, South Park. The next two meetings will be held on September 9 and October 14.

The 3rd Annual Fix 'ur Cat Miniature Golf Charity Tournament will be held Saturday, September 20 starting at 5 p.m. at Red Carpet Golf and Recreation Center, 2200 Old National Pike, Washington. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m., golf begins at 6:15 p.m., shotgun start. Dessert, raffles and prizes are to follow.
