New Eagle Borough Council heard from two residents about property flooding issues at the August 6 monthly meeting.
According to the Vine Street residents, they have been experiencing water pooling on their properties and flooding in their basements and sheds for years. Council has attempted to resolve the issue at other times over the years by placing dirt in the flooding areas, but the water drains into other areas, the residents explained.
Council explained that the issue is a difficult one to resolve due to the level topography of the yards and surrounding area, leaving nowhere for the water to be drained. Council assured the residents that they will bring an engineer in to assess the situation to possibly find a solution.
Also at the meeting, a resident addressed Council about an issue of property with overgrown bushes and trees. Council is aware of the property and suggested that they cut the property and fine the owner, placing a lien on the property if necessary.
In other business:
- Council approved the purchase of a new truck for the Public Works Department. The one-ton truck will include a plow and salt spreader and will be purchased from Woltz and Wind Ford at a cost of $42,416.
- Council adopted and approved a resolution to charge a $25 Rental Inspection Fee for any re-inspections necessary at rental properties.
