New Eagle Borough Council announced at the March 10 monthly meeting that the process for tagging junk vehicles in the borough will include an additional notice of violation meant to make the process easier for officials to implement effectively.
With the improved ordinance, when a junk vehicle violation is noticed by the mayor or police, the borough secretary will be notified along with the owner of the vehicle. Additionally, a notice of the violation will be posted on the owner’s private property.
Also at the meeting, Council decided to postpone a decision for a month or more on permitting New Eagle Volunteer Fire Department to utilize the empty space next to the fire department for parking during their community events. The fire department has requested to lease or purchase the space, which currently contains an old, unused playground.
Council members will explore any potential development opportunities for local youth before considering any sale or lease of the property. Council expressed potentially granting permission for the fire department using the space for parking during community events that require extra parking.
In other business, the Monongahela Police Department has received an increase in complaints about ATVs and dirt bikes in the borough. Residents are asked to call police with any complaints.
