On February 12 at the Donora Borough building, residents braved the bitter cold weather to hear the agenda that evening.

Donora
Former owner of Campa's Restaurant and businessman Jerry Campa shown with Donora Mayor Donald Pavelko. Jerry was honored for his upcoming birthday at the council meeting in February.

Resident Carl Suppo, during public comments, spoke about notices he received with regard to all his properties. Although he owns property in Donora, he still has to pay for a residency permit, and he has retained ownership for 12-15 years. Council explained that he was being treated like a renter, and they had passed an ordinance addressing the situation. He was advised to speak with Council afterward, and they would settle it, although they went on to discuss different aspects of the matter.

The Public Safety Council Committee approved to add Josha Spessard of Greensburg as a part-time officer, pending certain verifications are met.

Also, Council approved the appointment of Patsy Vince of Donora to the position of Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator for the Borough, pending certain requirements are met.

In other business, Donora residents are requested to place their garbage at the street curb of their residences no earlier than 5 p.m. the evening before the regularly scheduled pickup day, but no later than 5 a.m. that morning. All garbage should be placed within plastic garbage bags no larger than twenty gallons and the bags should be placed within garbage cans having secured lids.

Recyclables are to be placed at the street curb of homes no earlier than 5 p.m. the evening of the third Thursday of the month, and no later than 5 a.m. the morning of the third Friday of the month. The pick-up time for recyclables is the third Friday of every month.

In conclusion, Mayor Donald Pavelko gave his report for the night, ending it by saying, "Jerome E. Campa's family and friends gather together to honor him on his 80th birthday on Saturday, and I proclaim February 14, 2015 [to be] 'Jerome E. Campa Day.' I congratulate him." At this time, Mr. Campa came forward and the mayor presented him with an official proclamation.
