After a busy summer, the New Eagle Street Department will continue with multiple projects leading into the fall months, according to New Eagle Borough Council that convened for their monthly borough meeting on September 1st.
The street department employees have been active throughout the borough, repairing and replacing catch basins that were damaged by this summer’s heavy precipitation. More basins will be repaired or replaced in the coming fall months, according to Council.
The crew has also replaced 120 feet of steel pipe in the borough, with more work continuing towards Walnut Street. Additionally, road paving in parts of New Eagle has begun recently.
Council also announced that a building at 500 4th Avenue has been condemned and will likely be demolished in the coming months.
In other business, residents are warned of a phone scam of which local officials have been made aware. UPMC members are receiving the calls offering $100 Walmart gift cards if the individual gives credit card information. Residents should contact the local police if they receive one of these calls.
